Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GitHub account?+

No. RepoScan only uses public, anonymous GitHub API endpoints.

Can I scan private repos?+

Not yet. Only public repositories are supported.

Why did my scan fail?+

The most common cause is hitting the unauthenticated GitHub rate limit of 60 requests per hour per IP. Try again later.

Is my data stored?+

No. Scans run entirely in your browser. We don't store the repos you look up.

Can I scan multiple repos at once?+

Comparison mode is on the roadmap. For now, scan them one at a time.

What does the health score mean?+

It's a composite based on recent activity, license presence, and documentation signals โ€” useful as a quick sniff test.
